| Description: |
The Dar'kal Ballistics Frigate was a Klingon hull experiment conceived in the idea of mounting the maximum number of photon torpedoes on the smallest ship possible. The Dar'kal Ballistics Frigate remained in development for twelve years before the first prototype was deployed along the Klingon/Orion border, commonly referred to as the 'Borderland,' to hunt Orion slaving ships. The vessel proved competent, and larger numbers were ordered by the High Council to reinforce other Klingon positions throughout the empire.
The development of standard photon torpdoes was the downfall of the Dar'kal. Unable to be upgraded to the new technology, the frigates were phased out of service. Some fell into the hands of private house fleets, but most were simply sold off for scrap.
