| Description: |
The Swift Solaria class of Slaver / Blockade Runner designs were operated in the Borderland during the 2250s - 2270s. Extremely fast and nimble, even at warp, the Swift Solarias were perfect for their intended mission.
Swift Solarias would descend on unwitting commercial vessels and begin pummeling them with interruptor fire. Once the hapless freighter's shields were disabled, transporter crews onboard the Solaria would being transporting out crew and passengers into the ship's cargo hold. Once a wortwhile allotment of new slaves were procured, the Swift Solaria would then break off and return to Orion space to transfer the slave booty to a commerce world on one of the fringe worlds.
Advancements in Orion technology and the abandonment of interruptor technology began the decline of the Swift Solaria class, but the final nail in its coffin was the expansion of both the Federation and Klingon border fleets. Too many destroyers and frigates patrolled the Borderland, and even the speed of the Solaria could not help it if cornered by a Baker or Vakarzadan.
