The Son'a are an aggressive, militaristic race who dominate several less advanced worlds along the Federation/Romulan border. The Son'a were banished from the Bak'u planet following an unsuccessful coup. The nomadic outcasts eventually conquered the Tarlac and Ellora species and used them as forced labor to build a formidable Son'a military machine.
The Son'a are a dying people, but they remain a persist force. The Son'a briefly allied with rogue Federation interests in a failed attempt to capture the Bak'u planet. They later sided with the Dominion during the Dominion War, using their advanced genetics and biological technologies to assist in the production of ketracel white to supply the Dominion's Jem'Hadar soldiers.
The Son'a military is advanced and formidable, capable of confronting even the best Federation ship on an even footing.
The Son'a are one of the few races that make use of isolytic weapons, dreaded subspace weaponry banned under the Second Khitomer Accords.
