| Description: |
This light carrier unit was meant solely for escort duties, lacking offensive weapons of any kind. The Shochlar was equipped with six sentinel point defense, selected for their relative inexpensive cost compared to the newer protector point defense model. These sentinels were then tied into a central AEGIS Targeting Computer to better coordinate defensive fire from the ship. In addition to its defensive arrays, the Shochlar operated two flights of medium interceptor fighters to also aid in the defense of the fleet.
Shochlar Escort Carriers were considered second-line warships and were rarely seen outside the confines of large Solassi war fleets. Assignment to a Shochlar carrier was seen as a punishment because of the ship’s inability to fight. The cramped living quarters and antiquated technologies further impressed upon Solassi officers that the Shochlar was not a place one wanted to serve.
