| Description: |
After sustaining heavy losses in merchant shipping to the Rebel Alliance, the Imperial Navy comissioned the Imperial Star Galleon in response. Designed to be a self-escorting cargo vessel, the Star Galleon had a respectable array of turbolaser coverage as well as barracks for Navy Troopers or Imperial Stormtroopers.
While overall the design had to be considered a failure, as the vessels still required escort as the Rebel starfleet became a respectable opponent, the armed galleon approach strengthened the Imperial convoy system just when it was most in need. Many a over-brash Rebel privateer found himself on the unfriendly end of its turbolaser barrage.
