Description: |
The bulwark of the Republic fleet before the advent of the Star Destroyer designs that would end the Clone Wars, the Dreadnought cruisers were small capital ships that had enormous crew requirements. While capable combatants, the Dreadnoughts were a tremendous logistics drain even without the capability to bring support starfighters into battles. Prior to the Clone Wars there was an experiment with slave-rigging the computers of ships together, but that battle group, known as the Dark Force, disappeared into hyperspace after an unanticipated error. It later was recovered by Grand Admiral Thrawn, bringing several hundred ships into the depleted ranks of the Imperial Remnant.

Design Notes: |
The original pre-Clone Wars era Dreadnought lacked a hangar, and required escort ships to provide a starfighter contingent. |
