Description: |
The Rol’sa Light Fighter was the successor design to the earlier E’chekri Iesh’sa Interceptor fighter. The Rol’sa built on the Iesh’sa’s capabilities, boasting a reinforced hull, improved maneuverability, and a longer operational range. Perhaps the most important improvement to the Rol’sa over it predecessor was the addition of a pair of linked neutral particle beams. These light particle beam were miniaturized copies of those used in the defense batteries on E’chekri ships and bases. These weapons had the potential to do nearly three times the damage of the antiquated kinetic launchers found on the Iesh’sa.
Rol’sa fighter wings served with distinction throughout the war. The E’chekri attempted to upgrade the Rol’sa several time during the war, but all of these variants failed to live up to expectations. The most successful modification to the design came in 1829 when the E’chekri upgraded the fighters’ armor and fire control systems to improve the fighter’s odds against enemy fighters.
