Description:

First developed in 1608 but not deployed until 1613, the Kherr Heavy Laser Satellite was intended as a heavy orbital weapons platform for use in protecting valuable fixed defense installations, such as starbases or shipyards. The Kherr Heavy Laser Satellites was built around a single, spinally mounted HET laser, the most powerful weapon in the Courata arsenal at the time of the satellites’ construction. The Kherr was first seen in service of House Kharfath but was quickly duplicated by other rival houses, to varying degrees of success.

Kherr Laser Satellites remained powerful deterrents even in obsolescence. Kherr satellites continued to be used by Courata house forces for nearly two hundred years after their initial development. Minor systems modifications were made to the satellites, but this did not have a substantial effect on their base combat abilities.
