Gelnarte Heavy Battlecruiser
Description:
The Yolu at one point in their history experimented with the possibility of deploying heavy molecular disruptors within their fleet. These larger versions of the standard molecular disruptor have better range and damage, allowing the Yolu vital mid-range firepower.

The Gelnarte Heavy Battlecruiser was the first vessel to be equipped with these new weapons. Larger than an Aluin Gunship, the Gelnarte is equipped with four heavy molecular disruptors, the emitters occupying the entire forward section of the ship.

The Yolu ultimately decided against the use of the heavy molecular disruptor but retained the Gelnarte Heavy Battlecruisers that had already been produced. These craft saw conflict during the Dilgar Invasion, taking part in many engagements.

Design Notes:
This SCS has been sitting on my hard drive for a long time. Based on the art released from Sierra's cancelled Into the Fire computer game, this was our first (and really only) view of what the Yolu ships might look like. The first version of the Gelnarte was created before AOG had released their Yolu, but prior discussion on the ML had led me to give it molecular disruptors and heavy molecular disruptors. Instead of fusion cannons I had it using fusion bolts, but I switched this on this final version.
