Description: |
After the War of Retribution was over a review of House and Royal navies was undertaken to find strengths and weakness in the Centauri tactics and ships. While the Royal Navy preformed very well the House fleets performance was somewhat lacking. After sifting through the available data it was determined that the two major problems were command and the Houses dependence on mothballed ships. While training the house commanders was easily done the dependence on older designs was not easy or cheap to fix. After a great amount of debate it was decided to commission a light cruiser specifically for use in House fleets, it is hoped that this new design will boost House fleets while insuring the CRN keeps a edge over House fleets.
Many Houses forwarded their ideas for the light cruiser; the design that won the bid was a revamping of an old warhorse not in use for hundreds of years. The Celerian Light Cruiser has very little to do with it’s famous forefather. It keeps the Celerians classic hull design and size but is all-new internally. The heavy weapons were moved to the port and starboard sections of the hull, two of the medium weapons were dropped but it gained addition defensive weaponry and the ability to carry twelve Sentri’s or Raziks .The sensors, jump engine , reactor, engine, and armor were brought up to current standards. By updating a older design and using commonly used systems and parts the ship cost was kept to a minimum , costing 20% less than a Centurion Strike Cruiser . It is hoped that this design will become the backbone of house fleets and spur them to sell off their mothballed Talvins , Optines and reduce the number of Primus and Centurion Cruisers in their fleets.
