| Description: |
Named for a Kolanis cruiser destroyed in the final Battle of Chouka that ended the Chouka War, the Solukar Battlecruiser was to serve as a heavy crusier within the fleet. The Thrace Jump Cruiser had proved to be a successful design, but it was unable to integrate many of the new technological improvements that had developed in recent years.
The first Solukar Battlecruisers had just finished their shakedown cruises when war broke out along the ak-Tai border. The Solukars were quickly sent to the theater where they served as fleet command ships. Admiral Gharis Vantane, famous hero of the ak-Tai War, commanded the fleet from one of these vessels during the first years of the war.
Despite their advantages, the Solukars are simply too expensive to be built in great numbers and easy targets for the enemies of the ak-Tai Hegemony. The ships continue to serve.
One Solukar was named for Jarn Tazeel, the famous captain of the original Kolanis Cruiser that was lost at the Battle of Chouka. The Tazeel was lost during a running battle in the Logas'Ka System in 1982.
