Another one of the Mon Calamari people's successful conversions, the MC40 was originally a hull designed for science and research, but the coming of the Empire made it necessary to arm the ships. A functional light cruiser, the MC40 was outmatched if pressed into service against a Star Destroyer, but was capable of surpassing any other vessel the Empire might bring to bear.
