Gaolli Gunship
Description:
Built upon the heavily converted hull of a civilian supply ship, the Gaolli was the second major military design instituted by the Kylon Union upon their entrance to the interstellar scene. They knew that the need for a strong defense was urgent, and thus invested heavily in this design, believing it to be the most cost effective way to defend homeworld.

Stripping its cargo capacity, the Gaolli's hull was then prepped to mount a pair of Pulse Laser Cannons in place of each exterior cargo pod. These weapons, mounted on large turrets, had a wide arc of fire able to make up for the sluggishness of the vessel. With four mounted forward and four mounted aftward, the Gaolli has good overall weapons coverage.

Noting its lack of anti-fighter defense systems, Kylon engineers quickly went to work reworking several sections of the ship to counter this weakness. Two Particle Bolters were installed on the ship to give a meager defense to either end of the ship and six exterior docking rails were constructed on the rear of the ship, allowing for 6 light fighters to berth on the ship.

Despite the heavy renovations and refits given to the Gaolli, nothing could be done to compensate the strain put on the ship's weak reactor. A series of reactor prototype tests only managed to fit a larger reactor in the space available but not alleviate the power problems. Because of these problems, most Gaolli were forced to install individual reactors to power each laser pulse cannon.
